He is most known for being lost and surviving alone in an uncharted part of the Bolivian Amazon for three weeks in 1981. Ghinsberg’s survival story was featured in a documentary in ''I Shouldn't Be Alive'' on Discovery Channel.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Escape from the Amazon )〕 He wrote his first book titled ''Back from Tuichi'' in 1993.
